The 2025 Hero-Hunts Foundation Hunt was a big success! Several deer were harvested and – most importantly – multiple veterans had the chance to connect with each other and the outdoors.
These annual Hunts would not be possible without our donors and partners. Including people like President of Prime Time Hunting Club Dan P. and Prime Time Member Mike S., who dedicated their day to hosting veterans and service members as they set out on their hunts.
Dan and Mike hosted three veterans – Darrin G., Tiffany G., and Zac B. – on November 22. They spent the day on land provided by Delaware Wild Lands (DWL), a partner organization dedicated to conserving and protecting our state’s natural resources.
The group hunted at Fortner Farm in the morning. Although they didn’t harvest any deer, Dan reports that they “had a blast just hanging out and enjoying nature.” They swapped stories and laughed a lot, and even got to see a flock of sandhill cranes.
For lunch, the vets and hosts were joined by DWL Executive Director Marcia Fox at Metro Diner. Marcia shared a bit about DWL and their mission. Then, the entire group had a great time recapping the morning hunt. The veterans also shared memories from being stationed in Alaska.
That evening, the group hunted at McClain Farm. It was there that they found success!
Tiffany harvested her first antlered buck while Zac harvested a doe. Darrin didn’t harvest a deer, but he “enjoyed the sounds of the tundra swans flying overhead and, even more exciting, the gunshot from his wife’s (Tiffany’s) harvest,” according to Dan.
The day ended back at the barn, with time spent taking photos and reliving the group’s successful hunts.
Dan says, “It was a truly special day, full of great connections, some successful hunts, and a lot of respect for the outdoors. Big thanks to DWL and the Hero-Hunts Foundation for giving Mike and me such an amazing day!”
