Help HHF and the Department of Veterans Affairs Fulfill Holiday Wishes

Hero-Hunts Foundation (HHF) is partnering with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Wilmington Medical Center, Center for Development and Civic Engagement (CDCE) to spread joy to veterans this holiday season. But we need your help!

Many American heroes and their families are currently facing challenges that may make it difficult to celebrate this year. Together, we can provide them with meals and gifts to make their holidays a little brighter.

Keep reading to learn more about this year’s local Department of Veterans Affairs holiday initiatives and how you can join us in fulfilling holiday wishes for our veterans and their families.

Thanksgiving Grocery Card Program

The Thanksgiving Grocery Card Program focuses on covering Thanksgiving groceries for veterans who otherwise may not have the resources to celebrate the holiday with a delicious meal. These veterans may be experiencing medical issues, unemployment, homelessness, or other difficult circumstances.

With your gifts, HHF will purchase $25 gift cards to local grocery stores for our veterans. The Wilmington VAMC will collect these gift cards and send them to those in need, along with a Thanksgiving greeting card wishing them a joyful holiday.

Patriot Tree Program

Several veterans in our area may not have the resources to celebrate the gift-giving season with their families. At HHF, our aim is to adopt two families and fulfill their holiday wishes this year through the Patriot Tree Program.

We will receive a special wish list from our local Department of Veterans Affairs for our adopted families. With your help, we will have the chance to shop for and wrap two gifts for each veteran or family member.
