On the morning of September 25, Hero-Hunts Foundation surprised U.S. service members and their families by hosting our annual Fill-Your-Tank Day on Dover Air Force Base.
We covered the bill for every vehicle that visited the gas station that morning, eventually filling up 563 tanks of gas and totaling $18,665.98 in support.
Thanking Service Members with Fill-Your-Tank Day
Fill-Your-Tank Day is part of our organization’s mission to recognize and acknowledge those who have served and sacrificed for our country. We love seeing the happiness this act of kindness brings to our service members!
“It’s amazing to see the joy, smiles, and appreciation you get from giving somebody a free tank of gas each year,” says HHF Board President Chuck Nunan. “We help hundreds of men and women on Dover Air Force Base through this project. It’s another way the Hero-Hunts Foundation gives back to our military.”
HHF was founded in 2016 to do just that – express gratitude to the service members and veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces. In addition to Fill-Your-Tank Days, we provide several services and programs for these incredible individuals and their families.
This includes hunting outings, which connect participants with the outdoors and other veterans to improve both physical and mental health. We also send military families on trips to Disney World, host back-to-school drives, distribute turkeys at Thanksgiving, and support other organizations with similar missions through grants, donations, and partnerships.
